Aion 2 New Holy Grail Encounter Guide
This guide covers the New Holy Grail encounter, based on a successful clear. The rewards are substantial, including a brooch that provides approximately 20,000 more stats than the Succession version. Due to the high difficulty, careful preparation is essential, and if you find yourself short on resources for consumables or gear, you can buy Aion 2 Kinah to expedite your progress.

Preparation
Gather the following consumables before attempting the encounter:
Advanced Life Potions
Elixirs
Advanced Healing Potions
Life Crystals
These are necessary for survival during the third phase and the Tadpole pattern. Scrolls, food buffs, and other consumables are also required.
Pre-Encounter Setup
Markings and Tadpole Positions
Star Markers: Assigned to Tanks 1 through 4. These players perform the Mercy pattern.
Skull Markers: Assigned to the player in charge of the back during the front-back pattern, or to the Assassin.
Tadpole Positions:
Two-line responsibility (second tadpole pattern): 1 o'clock, 5 o'clock, 7 o'clock, 11 o'clock. Assign Healers here.
One-line responsibility: 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock, 9 o'clock, 12 o'clock.
Graphics Settings
Enable the Boss Rear Marker display in Combat settings. This shows the direction of the boss and tadpoles.
For color differentiation during the tadpole pattern, set Brightness Relaxation Strength to 0.8 or higher in Accessibility → Visual Aids.
Core Principle
Positioning is the most important factor. Early patterns follow a sequence but can become random based on damage output. Patterns are completely random starting from Page 3.
Page 1 Patterns
Front-Back Pattern (Wipe Mechanic)
Being hit by the red area creates a mark.
A second hit on a marked player wipes the party.
The first mark goes to the aggro holder. The second goes to the nearest player.
The red area can be blocked.
Strategy:
First occurrence: Assassin enters first, or Tank starts with back turned.
Subsequent occurrences: Star markers and numbered players position near the Tank. Remaining players position near the Skull.
Recommended formation: 5-3 (five players on one side, three on the other).
Charge Followed by Breath
The breath covers approximately 100 degrees. Block or evade. Consistent damage can be dealt from behind. Breath always follows any number pattern.
Number Pattern
Numbers 1 through 4 are designated. The pattern proceeds in order with circular donut areas. Affected players should move far from the boss's front to drop the area, then rejoin.
Gathering Pattern
Large areas require four players. Small areas require two players. All players should gather together. This pattern can also appear on Page 3.
Pizza Pattern
The boss twists his body and looks upward. If two players overlap, they die instantly.
Positioning:
Melee DPS: behind the boss
Ranged DPS: in front of the boss
At least five players must gather when the large area spawns. Everyone gathers toward the Star-marked Tank.
Tadpole Pattern
Positioning relative to boss: 12, 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 11 o'clock.
Line responsibilities:
Two lines: 1, 5, 7, 11 o'clock
One line: 12, 3, 6, 9 o'clock
Use the rear marker for precise positioning.
Three Orbs: When the red line touches an orb, its color changes. Match colors starting from the boss's outermost color. Two incorrect matches wipe the party.
Circular areas: Avoid them. The red line also inflicts burn damage.
After the first tadpole pattern: All players gather at 6 o'clock. Ranged DPS position approximately 15 meters away.
Page 2 Patterns
Page 2 adds a gathering mechanic to the front-back pattern.
Pattern sequence: Front-back → Pizza → Charge → Front-back → Charge → Pizza
Wing Pattern (50% Health)
Jump and spread your wings to deal damage. Apply buffs afterward.
Class positioning:
Assassin: first floor
Other classes: remain airborne to receive heals and buffs
Three random breath attacks occur. Ranged DPS only need to avoid the front-back pattern. Melee DPS should use blocking.
Avoid overlapping with other players during descent, as fire rings cause damage.
Three Areas Pattern
After the wing pattern ends, all players gather at 6 o'clock for either the Flame pattern or the Mercy pattern.
Mercy Pattern
The first red orb always goes to the Tank. If the Tank dies, check the aggro holder display.
Positioning requirements:
Tank to Number 1: longest distance
Number 1 to Number 2: shorter
Number 2 to Number 3: shorter
Number 3 to Number 4: shortest
The orb transfers to the nearest player each time. After receiving the orb and confirming transfer, move left or charge toward the boss to prevent return.
Receiving the orb drains energy and creates a mark. Death during this time wipes the party. Maintain full health.
Second Tadpole Pattern (35% Health)
The 1, 5, 7, and 11 o'clock positions manage two lines.
A large circular area drops. Blocking causes severe damage and must be avoided.
If an orb enters incorrectly, announce it immediately. Two incorrect entries cause an explosion.
Page 3 Patterns
Page 3 adds a scatter-and-gather mechanic to the front-back pattern.
When the tadpole pattern appears, the boss charges. Watch for the gathering action and react accordingly.
Scatter-and-Gather:
Star markers and numbers gather together.
Two or more skull markers gather together.
The 5-3 formation accounts for potential mistakes.
The Mercy pattern repeats. After receiving the orb, move left.
Final Phase (Approximately 10% Health)
All players gather at 6 o'clock. One party handles the right side for the "R" mechanic while the other handles the left side.
Lava Wave: Being hit once will not kill you. Healers should prepare immediate heals. Avoid consecutive hits. The wave lasts approximately 40 seconds.
From this phase onward, patterns proceed simultaneously with the lava wave, increasing difficulty.
Final Notes
Success requires precise positioning, clear communication, and consistent execution of each pattern. If you need to gear up quickly or stock up on consumables to tackle this difficult encounter, you can buy Aion 2 Kinah from MMOEXP to give yourself an edge. The substantial rewards make the effort worthwhile.
