He quickly establishes himself as arrogant and controlling, and invites you to visit him in person at Seluvis's Rise, a nearby tower.

 

Here begins your tangled journey with one of Elden Ring's most controversial NPCs.

 

Seluvis's Potion

 

Upon meeting Seluvis in person, he presents you with Seluvis's Potion, a mysterious concoction with sinister effects. He instructs you to deliver it to Nepheli Loux, with the implied goal of turning her into one of his personal puppets. This is a pivotal moment in the quest, and players must choose how to proceed:

 

    Speak to Gideon Ofnir: If you confide in Gideon, he will offer to dispose of the potion discreetly, claiming Seluvis won't suspect a thing.

 

    Give the Potion to Nepheli: If administered, Nepheli will fall under Seluvis's control, later appearing lifeless in his secret laboratory.

 

    Use It on the Dung Eater: If his questline has progressed to the point where he's restrained and accepting Seedbed Curses, you may instead choose to feed him the potion.

 

Regardless of your choice, you only get one use of the potion per playthrough. Choosing Nepheli or the Dung Eater locks the other out, so completionists aiming for both puppets must wait for New Game Plus.

 

Unlocking Puppets and Secret Chambers

 

Seluvis's laboratory is hidden beneath an illusory floor near Ranni's Rise. Inside, you'll find a note: “Seluvis's puppet. Do not touch.” Interacting with it reveals Seluvis's dark side, his obsession with controlling souls and creating loyal puppet warriors.

 

If you gave the potion to either Nepheli or the Dung Eater, you'll find their bodies here, now lifeless tools of the preceptor. Their Spirit Ashes, powerful Elden Ring Items, become available for purchase in exchange for Starlight Shards, a rare currency scattered across the Lands Between.

 

To purchase more than one puppet:

 

    Give the potion to someone.

    Acquire 2–3 Starlight Shards (depending on which puppet you picked first).

    Reload the area twice.

    Speak with Seluvis again to unlock the second puppet purchase option.

The Demigod Scheme and Amber Draught

 

Seluvis's ambition doesn't stop with puppeteering mortals, he seeks to control even a demigod. To this end, he tasks you with retrieving an Amber Starlight Shard, which is located in the Altus Plateau. To find it, you can purchase a Weathered Map from Pidia, his silent servant.

 

Upon delivering the shard, Seluvis rewards you with the Magic Scorpion Charm, an item that boosts magic attack at the cost of defense, a key talisman for sorcery-based builds.

 

If you continue assisting Seluvis, he provides a final item: the Amber Draught, asking you to administer it to Ranni herself.

 

Important: Giving Ranni the Fingerslayer Blade before this point will end Seluvis's questline prematurely, he will be found dead in his tower, and the rest of the events will be locked out.

 

If you choose to give Ranni the Amber Draught, she awakens, furious and betrayed. After two further interactions, she kills you instantly (no battle). At this point, Ranni, Iji, and Blaidd disappear from the game until you absolve your sins with Celestial Dew at the Church of Vows.

 

This event results in Seluvis's death, and Pidia meets a tragic end, killed by his beloved puppets. If Nepheli was turned into a puppet, her Spirit Ashes replace Dolores's in this sequence, another example of how your choices impact the Elden Ring Items you can obtain.
