Exciting Builds in Diablo 4’s Vessel of Hatred Expansion

Sep-13-2024 PST Category: Diablo4
Hey everyone, with the Diablo IV 2.0 PTR now wrapped up, I’m excited to share five builds of the new classes I’m looking forward to from the Ships of Hatred expansion—well, technically six if you count the new Spiritborn class. While I didn’t get a chance to test the Spiritborn on the PTR, I plan to dive into it once the Jaguar or Jaguar Eagle versions are released. For now, let’s explore the five builds of the existing classes I tested on the PTR. These builds aren’t fully optimized yet, but they can already handle Torment 4 content with ease, and with the right gear and Masterwork setups, they should be able to handle the highest difficulties, including The Pit 100. Let’s dive into these builds! Additionally, looking to gear up faster and dominate the toughest challenges in Diablo IV? 1. Spin to Win Rogue: Dance of Knives

One of my favorite builds coming into Vessel of Hatred is the Spin to Win Rogue utilizing the new skill, Dance of Knives. This skill channels without consuming resources, which opens up a lot of strategic flexibility. Originally, I started with a hybrid build using Fan of Knives as a generator paired with other spenders like Penetrating Shot. However, the full Dance of Knives build quickly became my favorite due to its unique mechanics. Although it doesn't consume resources directly, it operates on charges that regenerate rapidly, allowing for sustained damage output with strategic pauses to refresh buffs like Imbue.

The build leverages the Rogue Keystone passive, Alchemical Admixture, which enhances the effectiveness of your imbues, allowing you to mix and match elemental effects dynamically. A notable variation of this build by Mippy (M1PY) suggests skipping the triple imbue skill bar setup in favor of weapon affixes for elemental procs, streamlining the build while maximizing damage.

2. Druid: Stone Burst Explosion

For Druid enthusiasts who enjoy chaotic, screen-filling explosions, the Stone Burst build is an absolute blast. Stone Burst is a new skill that can be either tapped for a quick explosion or channeled to increase the radius before triggering. Rapidly spamming this skill can be more effective than channeling, particularly when paired with the new Mollic Ring, which provides unlimited spirit and double damage while Cataclysm is active.

To keep Cataclysm up almost constantly, this build stacks cooldown reduction, utilizes the Wolf Calamity Boon to extend Cataclysm's duration, and employs the Snake Spirit Boon, Calm Before the Storm, to further reduce cooldowns. The Aspect of Anticline Burst also plays a crucial role by auto-triggering Stone Burst at maximum radius, allowing you to focus on spamming explosions without manual channeling.

3. Necromancer: Blood Wave Bone Spirit

This build revolves around the Necromancer’s ultimate, Blood Wave, and synergizes it with the unique chest piece, Blood Artisan’s Cuirass. This item causes Bone Spirit to spawn every time you collect a specific number of Blood Orbs. By stacking the build to generate Blood Orbs through the Tidal Aspect, which doubles Blood Wave's casts, you can amass orbs quickly, triggering Bone Spirit frequently for massive damage bursts.

Key to this build is ensuring you have a Blood Artisan’s Cuirass with a low orb threshold, ideally three, allowing for efficient Bone Spirit generation. Coupled with aspects that reduce Blood Wave's cooldown and trigger additional effects, this setup keeps you in a constant cycle of casting Blood Wave, collecting orbs, and unleashing devastating Bone Spirits with high life bonuses.

4. Barbarian: Stand to Win Earthquake

Contrasting the mobility-focused Spin to Win builds, this Barbarian setup, known as Stand to Win, emphasizes stationary power. Utilizing the Lith Rune Word, this build generates earthquakes simply by standing still. The build revolves around enhancing these earthquakes with damage and protective effects, such as the Aspect of Inner Calm for damage buffs and Bathos for damage reduction.

The Wild Bolt Aspect adds a layer of crowd control, pulling distant enemies towards you every two seconds, making it ideal for stationary combat. The Force of Nature Paragon node further boosts the build by spawning Dust Devils from your earthquakes, multiplying your area damage potential. This build can even serve as a semi-AFK option in lower difficulties, effortlessly clearing waves of enemies without requiring constant player input.

5. Sorcerer: Chain Lightning Speedrunner

Lightning lances may still dominate, but for speedruns and pure fun, the Chain Lightning build stands out. Utilizing Axial Conduit and the new keystone passive skill Enlightenment, this build optimizes Chain Lightning's interaction with multiple elements, allowing it to alternate between surrounding you and seeking out enemies. Each cast costs mana, but it also deals significant damage, requiring careful resource management.

By stacking elemental buffs and using the Teleport enchantment to replace your dodging with short-distance teleports, this build captures fast-paced, teleport-centric gameplay reminiscent of Diablo II. You'll dart around the battlefield, pull in enemies with your infinite weapons, and decimate them with rapid Chain Lightning, making it one of the most dynamic and exciting Witcher builds to date.

These builds are just a glimpse of what's possible in Diablo IV's Veins of Hatred expansion. I'll be further refining these setups and exploring more options as we prepare for the official release, especially for the new Spiritborn class.
