Throne and Liberty Guide: The Staff and Longbow Synergy
Why Staff and Longbow?
When it comes to versatility in Throne and Liberty, the Staff has always been a favorite of mine. The primary reason I decided to experiment with the Longbow as a secondary weapon is that I wanted a build that maximized long-range capabilities while minimizing risk. After testing various combinations, I found that the Staff and Longbow duo not only provided excellent range but also high damage, decent crowd control (CC), and survivability.
Gear Breakdown
Let’s talk gear—while I don’t have the perfect loadout yet, I’m getting closer with each upgrade. Here’s what I’m currently running:
Staff (Main Weapon):
· Tux Thunderous Soul (Level 6) – This is my go-to weapon. It provides a 26% boost to melee, ranged, and magic critical hit per meter of distance from the target. The range boost of 17.4% also enhances your reach, allowing you to attack from far away. A key stat here is the +9 Dexterity, crucial for damage output.
· Unfortunately, my current trait only gives an animal damage bonus, but we can improve that over time.
Longbow (Secondary Weapon):
· My Longbow is also Level 6, but the magic happens when paired with the Staff for long-range combat. It allows for crowd control by binding enemies and keeping them at a distance. While the damage might not match up with melee builds, the ability to keep enemies at bay and burn them down slowly makes this combination quite powerful.
Stats and Build Focus
For this build, I’ve maximized my Dexterity and Wisdom, which provides both damage and mana regeneration:
· Strength: 10 (optional for extra defense)
· Dexterity: 39 (main damage stat)
· Wisdom: 33 (mana and mana regen)
· Perception: 21 (helps with attack accuracy and CC effectiveness)
I recommend putting as many points into Dexterity and Wisdom as possible, then adding Perception for more reliable hits, especially for the Longbow's binding skills.
Armor and Accessories
When it comes to gear, I prioritize a combination of Magic Critical Hit and Mana Regeneration. Here’s a breakdown of my current setup:
· Helmet: Magic Critical Hit, Max Mana, Melee Endurance
· Cloak: Magic Critical Hit, Mana Regen, Cooldown Speed (Petrification Resistance trait)
· Armor: Perception, Max Health (Health trait)
· Gloves: Range boost for the Staff (melee evasion trait)
· Pants: Max Health and Mana (Magic Endurance trait)
· Boots: Wisdom, Magic Hit Weakening, Movement Speed
For accessories:
· Necklace: Mana Regen, Cooldown Speed, Mana Regen trait
· Rings: One ring for ranged hit and another for magic critical hit and mana regen.
Skill Setup: Staff and Longbow Synergy
Staff Skills
· Fire and Electricity: These are my core skills, as they deal the majority of the damage. The fire-based skills burn enemies over time, while electricity helps control them in combat.
· Infernal Meteor: Unlocked through a resistance event, this devastating AoE skill is perfect for large groups of enemies or during PvP skirmishes.
· Mana Recuperation: Keeps your mana pool full, ensuring that you can consistently cast spells and keep the pressure on.
Longbow Skills
· Ensnaring Arrow: Binds enemies from afar, preventing them from reaching you.
· Decisive Sniping: High-damage skill to take down enemies from a distance.
· Nature’s Blessing: A passive healing skill that benefits you and your party during long battles.
· Strafing: Adds mobility, allowing you to maintain distance while continuing to attack.
Strategy and Combat Tips
The strength of this build lies in its range. You can initiate combat from a far distance with your Longbow, using CC to bind enemies before switching to your Staff for high-damage spells.
1. Open with the Longbow: Start by using Ensnaring Arrow to bind enemies and keep them away.
2. Switch to Staff: Unleash your Fire and Electricity skills for massive damage while keeping your distance.
3. Use Infernal Meteor: This ultimate skill is great for clearing groups of enemies quickly.
4. Maintain Mana: Use Mana Recuperation between fights to ensure you’re always ready for the next battle.
Mastery Recommendations
For Staff Mastery, focus on maximizing damage, magic hit, and critical hits. This allows you to deal as much damage as possible while staying safe from a distance.
For Longbow Mastery, prioritize range hit, bind chance, and cooldown speed. The more often you can bind and trap enemies, the easier it will be to control the flow of battle.
Final Thoughts
As we await the upcoming patch that will combine stats like ranged hits, magic hits, and melee hits into a single stat, this build will only become more viable. Once that happens, more players will likely gravitate toward the Staff and Longbow build, unlocking even more off-the-beaten-path possibilities. This build offers a perfect balance of damage, survivability, and control, making it a great choice for players who want to stay out of harm's way while dealing serious damage.
